Wester Markinch Cottage is an extended Victorian cottage set in the outskirts of Balbirnie Park, Markinch. A 10-minute walk away is Balbirnie House Hotel, which is a very popular venue for weddings. Balgonie Castle, another popular venue for weddings is 3 miles away.
Balbirnie Golf Course is adjacent to the house and there are another 25 golf courses within a 20-mile radius.
We are ideally situated for visiting many tourist attractions whether travelling by car or public transport. There is a bus service every half hour during the day to the Kingdom Centre in Glenrothes where there are buses to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dunfermline, St Andrews and Dundee (connecting buses to Aberdeen from Dundee).
Stirling, the home of Wallace Monument, is also within easy reach. The railway station is one mile away with frequent services to Edinburgh, Dundee, Perth and Aberdeen. In the village of Markinch there is a Chinese restaurant, chip shop and a hotel which all do very reasonably priced meals. There are also 2 supermarkets and various other shops to browse through.
The accommodation comprises a twin room, which converts to Super King Size bed, a double room and a single room. All rooms are ensuite, have TV with satellite available, safety deposit box and tea and coffee making facilities. Wireless broadband now available. Although the emphasis at the Town House is on food, we also have a number of modern, individually decorated comfortable bedrooms.
All rooms are furnished to a high standard, with colour television, radio alarm, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer and a complimentary small carafe of sherry.
We have one family room which can accommodate a fold up bed. Children up to the age of 12 are accommodated free when sharing a parents room.
