Being in the east of the country, the Kingdom of Fife is generally drier and warmer than many other parts. As well as having treasures all of its own, good road and rail links links make it an ideal base for exploring other areas such as Dundee, Perth and Edinburgh; all of which are within easy reach.

Tourist attractions include a number of coastal villages such as Aberdour, Crail, Elie and Anstruther among others. St Andrews, of course, has its own character and charm. The North Sea Cycle Route passes through the region and the newly developed Fife Coastal Path is popular with both locals and visitors.

Historic Buildings and Castles:
Stirling Castle Magnificent setting on top of a volcanic outcrop and dominating the landscape for miles around.	Castle Campbell Dollar. Picture-postcard castle.	Blackness Castle Near Bo'ness. 15th century castle on the Firth of Forth.	Alloa Tower Alloa. Recently restored 14th century tower. One of the largest surviving medieval tower houses and ancestral home of the Erskine family, Earls of Mar and Kellie.

A changing programme of temporary exhibitions on a range of subjects and media, together with lunchtime talks and other events contribute to make the Smith a lively and welcoming visitor attraction.	Scottish Antiques and Arts Centre Doune, near Stirling.	Bannockburn Heritage Centre Stirling. Visit the heritage centre and nearby Wallace Monument.

Falkirk Wheel Superb feat of modern engineering. The Wheel replaces 16 locks to lift and lower boats about 100ft between the Union Canal and the Forth & Clyde Canal.	Trossachs Discovery Centre Aberfoyle. Visitor centre outlining the natural history of the Trossachs.	Loch Katrine In the heart of the Trossachs. Take a trip on the steamer Sir Walter Scott.
