We have just renovated a 19th Century sandstone cottage, to provide a self catering option for visitors (up to 6 + small child) to the Borders. Exposed beams and barn doors are mixed with beautifully decorated rooms, using a mixture of traditional 'Farrow and Ball' colours and contemporary furnishings.

With modern dining kitchen (including SMEG dishwasher, fan oven, ceramic hob, microwave and large fridge freezer), utility/boot room (with washing machine), bathroom (separate shower and bath), WC, large living room with multi-fuel stove and French doors to the garden, 2 double and 1 twin bedroom, as well as extensive outbuildings, you can enjoy a self-catering stay in a great part of the Borders.

Parking for 2 cars, great walks on door step (St Cuthbert's Way, Borders Abbey Way, Dere Street), 5 minute's drive from Jedburgh and 15 minute's drive from Kelso, and best of all... 30 seconds walk to the award winning Caddy Mann restaurant... yes, right next door!

Situated just off the A698, midway between the towns of Kelso to the north, and Jedburgh to the south, we are an easy 6 mile drive from each and, for those without their own transport, there is a very good local bus service that connects with national bus and rails networks. All of the Borders' historic abbeys and houses and many sporting activities are within easy reach with Edinburgh and Newcastle just over an hour's drive away with.

We are artists with a love of gardens and orchards and, whether you are looking for somewhere to work on a project or as a base from which to visit and explore the area, we look forward to welcoming you to this extraordinary place.

We have renovated part of the old Domini's house (Master's House) to provide quiet, self-contained accommodation for our visitors. We offer accommodation on a self-catering or B&B basis, depending on your length of stay.

Breakfast is served from 7.30am until 9.00am in the main schoolroom. We endeavour to use fresh, local ingredients including produce from our own garden whenever possible. Orders for breakfast are taken the morning before and there will be an order slip in your room on arrival. A continental breakfast can be arranged for you in the B&B's own dining kitchen should you require it outwith these times.

Please visit our website for more information and photographs of the surrounding landscape. We look forward to welcoming you!

Allerton House, Georgian guest house in Jedburgh, was originally built in the mid 1800's for a wealthy corn merchant and has retained the gracious style whilst having been brought completely up to date to meet today's requirements. Surrounded as it is by mature trees and a beautifully landscaped gardens, it's hard to believe that you are only five minutes' walk away from the town centre and less than a minute by car from the main A68 trunk road.

The Scottish Borders, with its gently rolling hills and ancient woodlands, has seen a lot of action over the years and this is reflected in the wealth of historic sites in the area including the beautiful Jedburgh Abbey which dominates the town. At Allerton House each of the six rooms is named after these sites - Queen Mary and Ferniehirst being just two examples and you will find a little bit of information about the relevant place in your bedroom pack. There are two rooms on the ground floor, one of which is equipped to make it comfortable for people with disabilities and also has a sofa-bed making it suitable to accommodate a third person. The other is a family room with twin beds and a separate bunk bedroom. Upstairs there are three superior doubles with views of the gardens and one single room with a walk-in door-less shower.

The Macallan Lounge is a comfortable area for guests to relax in the evening and is equipped with books, DVDs (for use in your room), board games and cards. It also doubles up as the breakfast room where freshly cooked local produce gives a good start to the day.

As well as being of great historical significance, the area is a paradise for walkers of all abilities from a gentle stroll along the river to St Cuthbert's Way. For anyone wanting to do one of the longer routes we can arrange transfers to or from the starting or finishing point. But if you bring your own transport there is off-road parking right by the house.

Allerton House has much to offer, as has Jedburgh. One of the bonuses of staying with us is free wi-fi for those who need to keep in touch and also free membership of the swimming pool and leisure centre which is literally two minutes from the front door.

Chris and Carol Longden, with their long experience at the top end of the hospitality industry, look forward to welcoming you to their home and to ensuring that whether you are on holiday, on business or just passing through you will have a relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable stay.

A converted mill on a farm three miles from Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders. The property, maintained to the highest standards, overlooks the water garden of the nearby farmhouse and on beyond to the Cheviot Hills. An ideal base for all sporting activities or touring the beautiful, scenic countryside.

The house consists of one double bedroom, own twin-bedded room, bathroom and split level kitchen/dining room on the ground floor.

On the first floor there is a large, comfortable living room with picture windows giving spectacular views across the countryside.

There is ample car parking by the house and is three miles from the nearest shop, Post Office and public transport.

The chief place of the Middle Marches on the Scottish side, Jedburgh, from its proximity to the Border, was the scene of constant strife and bloodshed almost from its foundation in the 9th century. The town suffered severely at the hands of the English, notably in 1523 when it was attacked by the Earl of Surrey. In 1544-45 it was sacked and burned by the Earl of Hertford.

Now a peaceful country town, Jedburgh provides the ideal centre to visit the Border Abbeys and stately homes or a place in which just to wander at ease and explore the surrounding countryside.

We ask that visitors do not smoke in the cottage.
